What to Expect as a Volunteer

While volunteering with AWSN is a rewarding and fulfilling experience, it does require:

  • A commitment of time and effort
  • Participating in appropriate training, where applicable
  • Compliance with required background checks

All AWSN Volunteers are required to hold a current Police Check. On selected AWSN initiatives, you may also be required to supply/have an active Working With Children Card/ Working with Vulnerable People Card.

Community Ambassador

As a Community Ambassador you are the vital connection between us and your local community. In this volunteer role, you’ll collaborate with your small team of fellow Leads as the primary contacts of your Chapter, taking on responsibilities such as:

  • Organising engaging community events
  • Championing and distributing AWSN initiatives
  • Offering a compassionate ear to community members
  • Creating a warm, inclusive space for connection
  • Supporting communication and teamwork within your Chapter

Support your local cyber community!


Location: 2x Brisbane, 2x Perth

Social Media Ambassador

We are looking for volunteers to help manage our state LinkedIn pages and promote local events, initiatives, and community stories.

What you'll do:

  • Create social media posts and graphics (Canva)
  • Help plan and manage the chapter's content calendar
  • Share event promotions, member spotlights, success stories, and AWSN initiatives
  • Coordinate social tiles, logo approvals, and schedule content

What we're looking for:

  • Experience or interest in social media and content creation
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills
  • Creativity and Canva/design skills
  • Passion for supporting and growing the AWSN community
