Advocacy

The Australian Women in Security Network is committed to advocating for the community that we represent.

At AWSN, advocacy is at the heart of our mission to create a more inclusive and equitable security industry. We work to amplify the voices of women and underrepresented groups, champion diversity, and influence positive change across cybersecurity and related fields.

Our advocacy initiatives focus on breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and promoting policies that support equal opportunities. Through collaboration with industry leaders, government bodies, and educational institutions, AWSN strives to ensure that women have access to the resources, networks, and recognition they deserve.

From raising awareness about gender gaps to supporting programs that encourage participation in STEM and security careers, we aim to create a culture where diversity is celebrated and valued. By advocating for representation at all levels from technical roles, leadership positions, and decision-making forums, we help shape a future where innovation thrives through inclusion.

Global 50x50 Initiative

Empowering women worldwide to represent 50% of the cybersecurity workforce by 2050

The Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) is a presenting partner in the Global 50x50 Initiative, a collaborative movement led by The Center for Cyber Safety & Education to achieve equal gender representation in cybersecurity by 2050. Uniting industry leaders and changemakers from around the world, the initiative aims to unlock opportunities and transform the future of cyber talent.

Through this partnership, AWSN joins forces with The Center for Cyber Safety and Education, ISC2, and other global champions to tackle the persistent gender gap in cybersecurity. The Global 50x50 Initiative advances research, awareness, mentorship, and access to education, with the goal of building a thriving, sustainable, and inclusive cyber workforce.

Organisations and individuals everywhere are invited to be part of this movement and help shape the future of cybersecurity. Visit 50x50.org to make your pledge—partner with us, connect your community, donate to support our mission, or sponsor the initiative to drive meaningful, lasting change.
