AWSN Group Mentoring

The AWSN Group Mentoring Program offers short-term, meaningful support for women in security through group-based mentoring. This initiative connects small groups of 3–5 mentees with an experienced mentor aligned with their career goals.

This group format encourages collaboration, diverse perspectives, and peer-to-peer learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.

How It Works

  • Mentors commit to supporting a group of 3–5 mentees over a 3-month period.
  • This format allows for rich interaction while keeping time commitments manageable.

Expectations & Guidelines

  • All participants must agree to uphold AWSN’s Code of Conduct, promoting a safe and inclusive mentoring space.
  • Mentees are encouraged to take initiative, engage proactively, and contribute respectfully to the group
  • Each group decides how they will stay in touch — whether through email, video calls, or messaging platforms.
  • Agree on a schedule that works for everyone and stick to it to build trust and accountability.

This interim program is a fantastic opportunity to stay connected, learn from peers and mentors, and continue developing your career in security.

In a professional context Mentorship is not about reaching a particular goal within an organisation. Mentorship has two pillars and those are: trust and learning. The best outcome of being a mentee is to trust, listen, collaborate to formulate a relationship and eventually you will find your way with the right anchor. I have also been a mentor and the true benefit was learning, and to gain the ability to see something more in people around you. We learn from people around us and mentoring is a two-way street both for the mentor and mentee. It is a relationship at the end of the day!” Tanvi Bali, DevSecOps Lead at NAB
