Sarah Barnbrook

Founder & CEO, Away from Keyboard Inc.

Sarah Barnbrook is the Founder and CEO of Away from Keyboard (AFK) Inc., an Australian charity focused on preventing digital harm and advancing safer, more ethical technology design. She is an accredited UN delegate and speaker working across AI governance, cybersecurity, digital safety, and human rights. Sarah is the creator of Alt-TAB, a human rights and Safety by Design assessment tool that helps organisations identify ethical, cyber, and societal risks earlier in the development process, supporting more responsible innovation from the outset.

Sarah contributes as a Co Vice-Chair to the IEEE Industry Connections initiative on user-centred principles for artificial intelligence in family violence and is a member of ANZSOC and IASEAI. She also serves as Chief Advocacy Officer for Women 4 STEM, Digital Safety Futures Co-Lead for Soroptimist International, Company Secretary for AGEC, and contributes to advocacy initiatives through the National Council of Women Victoria. Sarah advocates globally on ethical AI, TFGBV, child safeguarding, and upstream approaches to digital safety and human rights.
